About the Event

This 5-week program offers returning Playground students the chance to fine-tune their audition technique as they prepare to further their acting careers. It’s ideal for actors who are confident in their abilities, as it builds practically on the fundamental acting lessons explored in Acting Technique I by delving into the essentials of auditioning in today’s world, including:

  • How to find auditions
  • Preparing for your audition
  • Introducing yourself in a memorable way
  • “Sticking the landing” on your audition material
  • Making a lasting impression
  • How to approach callbacks
  • Audition do’s & don’t’s
  • Headshots & resumes
  • Building confidence as an actor
  • How to submit to and audtion for agencies
  • How to audition for theatrical productions

At the end of the 5-week program, actors attending Auditioning Today will have the opportunity to do a mock audition in front of real industry professionals in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. This chance to practice auditioning and to receive valuable feedback from people working in entertainment right now will both hone your craft and, ultimately, provide you with a real, working audition piece that you can take with you as you embark on the rest of your journey as an actor.   Teaching Artist Bio:

Carson Wright is an actor based in North Texas with deep roots in the local community. He’s been pursuing his art form since he was young, first venturing into the performing arts at the Theatre Conservatory of Dallas' Arts Magnet High School before going on to earn a B.F.A. at the SMU Meadows School of the Arts. Working as a professional stage & screen actor while teaching students of all ages about everything from the basics of theatre to analyzing Shakespeare’s plays has kept his technique sharp. Carson is represented by the Kim Dawson Agency and has recently worked with Second Thought Theatre, Echo Theatre, Shakespeare Dallas, Shakespeare Everywhere, WaterTower Theatre and Kitchen Dog Theater.
