Things To Know
May I sit in on a class to observe?
We don’t allow guests to sit in on classes to ensure the integrity of our ensemble. Having someone observe can sometimes feel distracting or intimidating for students as they explore and grow. However, we’d love for you to connect with us in other ways! You’re welcome to attend one of our Actors and Artists meetups, where you can chat with students and teaching artists, email us to be connected with a current student for insights about the program, or join us for a showcase to see our work in action.

What happens if I miss a class?
Life happens, and we understand! If you miss a class, you can schedule a 20-minute one-on-one Zoom session with your instructor to cover the material and stay on track. We’re here to support your growth every step of the way.

What to bring to class
-

-
We will provide you with a folder to keep your Playground essentials in, please bring this folder to and from class. If you already have a Playground folder from a previous class please bring it with you.
-
A notebook or jounral to take notes in.
-

Notify us if…
-
You are unable to make it. We will worry about you! If you are unable to make it to class, no problem. We can find a way to ensure you make up for the missed material.
-
You will be late. In the professional world it is not only a courtesy to let your Stage Manager or production know that you will be late but it’s mandatory. To get you in the habit of that, give us a quick text or email if you will be more than 5 minutes late.

When are classes?
Our classes are typically offered in Fall, Winter, and Spring and usually last about 8 weeks. We have a variety of Masterclasses throughout the year. During the summer we offer a Summer Camp, Adult Summer Intensives, and MasterClasses. We also host monthly adult Improv classes and Kids Night Out events.
Who is the program good for?
All levels of experience! We have students who have obtained their BFA in Acting, are professional working actors, have never taken an acting class before, and who are returning back to acting after years. Our program helps you build and re-build your creative foundation.

A special note for beginners:

Dear You,
Everyone taking a class, no matter their experience is as nervous and excited as you are. The class is designed for students just like you and our class sizes are small so everyone becomes tight and super supportive. The first step is reaching out, the second is showing up —after that everything is easier! We can't wait to meet you.

Warmly,
The Playground Acting Program
